Our Favorite Wichita Engagement Locations

You’re engaged! Congrats! Whether it’s been a long time coming or a total surprise, an engagement is something to be celebrated and documented. Engagement sessions are our personal favorites mostly because it’s such a chill time to really get to know you and just have fun together! 

Choosing your location can be a key part of creating the vibe of your photos and your wedding. Wichita has tons of locations from nature and green to urban cityscape or whatever your vibe, there is somewhere perfect for you. 

Here are some of our favorite locations for engagement sessions:

Natural scenery: The Great Plains Nature Center

Our clients love this location for good reason. This park has it all, thick trees, winding trails and tall grass fields that look dreamy in golden hour! We always see deer and wildlife when we are out here so that’s an added plus!

Best time of year: Late April- Late October

Clean Greenery and Waterfall: Eastborough Park 

If you’re looking for a more polished natural vibe, Eastborough Park is for you. The foliage is well maintained and the grass stays green well into Fall. The waterfall and lake are stunning and the stone and brick walls are such a perfect variation.

Best time of year: Late March- Late October

Ethereal fields: Pawnee Prairie Nature Park 

This is the ultimate golden hour location. There’s endless tall grass fields and the sun sets beautifully behind a distant row of trees. Every time we are here we end up with very dramatic and majestic looking photos. 

Best time of year: Mostly Fall

Urban Landmark: Keeper of the Plains

If you’re going for something different look no further than this downtown landmark. The Keeper is great for photos for so many reasons. The bridge gives great sightlines and framing for you to walk, lean against and dance on. The statue and the pyramid of cords are stunning against the golden hour sunset and will definitely WOW on save the dates. 

It’s also close to the river and some trees to give you a variety of backdrops for photos.

Garden Paradise: Botanica 

It’s easy to see why Botanica is a great place for photos. They have it all, flowers, greenery, fountains, winding paths and so much more. We always leave with the best photos from this garden, it’s very well maintained and there’s so many choices of scenery. They do charge for entry, (it’s not expensive) and be sure to check their events page so you don’t accidentally show up during a closed event.

Winter Wonder: Windy Knoll Christmas Tree Farm

Where do you go for photos when everything outside is dead? A Christmas tree farm is a great option! The green trees look beautiful in winter and make a great backdrop of an engagement! It’s especially fun if you want to do a holiday themed save the date or announcement! Windy Knoll does a great job of setting up little backdrop areas to give photos some interest and variety.
